Our first modern classic rock tune is from Chicago singer-songwriter/keyboardist Neal Francis. Neal calls his musical style “glide funk”— his sound fuses 70s elements of pop, funk, soul, blues, and jazz. He is known for recording direct-to-tape, including his latest 2024 live release, “Francis Comes Alive!”
From his 2021 album, “In Plain Sight,” the power-pop track “Can’t Stop the Rain” features slide guitar by Derek Trucks (of the Allman Brothers family), and is a great example of the classic rock style that would have fit easily into any 70s top 40 playlist.
